Services

Our main area of work is advising on Wills and estate planning, helping clients organise their affairs to best advantage for their beneficiaries.

In addition we assist in the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney’s both Property and affairs and personal welfare.

We can help should you wish to move a property or other asset into a lifetime trust.

Finally, should family members and executors require help with the administration of an estate, we would be pleased to assist. In all these cases, in event that specialist legal or accountancy work is required, or independent financial advice we have experienced firms we can call on to help. (Prices available on application).

We can even help you plan your funeral. We offer prepaid funeral plans which help make your wishes are followed.

Professional Introducers

At Kendal Wills we specialise in dealing with other professionals such as Accountants and Independent financial advisers.

We offer a high level of service and feedback in such cases and can visit clients in their homes up to 50 miles from Kendal. If you have more distant clients, we would still be pleased to assist and can recommend a Will writer local to your client who will also be an Institute of Professional Willwriters member.

We can conduct evening appointments at a time to suite your client rather than just a time to suite us.

Kendal Wills do not appoint ourselves as executors on the Wills so there are no nasty surprises for the executors and family, as regards excessive charges for probate work, and your clients are free to “shop around” when choosing a firm to administer the estate.

Charity Giving via Wills

We are also pleased to talk to local charities who may want to encourage legacy giving. We can also assist our clients in choosing suitable charities. Charitable gifts can also reduce a potential Inheritance tax liability.

After April 2012 the Government is reducing Inheritance tax from 40% to 36% for those people who make charity donations in their Wills of more than 10% of the estate. See http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/budget2011/charities-main-announcements.pdf

We can help you make sure you benefit from this change.

Business and Farm Succession advice

Many of our clients have businesses and farms and planning for the future can be a constant worry.

Once we have a full understanding of your situation we help you plan both making lifetime gifts and using Wills.

Even if you know what you want to achieve, it may not be totally straightforward, as mitigating tax both now and in the future can become a further important consideration.

We offer a free initial meeting with no obligation. Again, we have access to specialists where required.
